Giles Martin introduces The Beach Boys' 'Pet Sounds' in Atmos
Memories of yesteryear high school drive-in theaters what fun The Beach Boys memories brings it all back❤❤❤❤
Guessed the song from the first drum licks😊
Excellent prison band!
Love The Beach Boys
Greatest song of them all IMO
Carl had a great voice!
For some reason, this song ALWAYS brings tears to my eyes… it so good
So Dennis was a terrible??? drummer? I dunno, whenever I hear his funky backbeat in Do It Again it pumps a quart of adrenaline into my heart and I start groovin'!! Same with Dino Danelli. Ginger Baker sends me into a feckin' coma.
Dennis was whaling on those drums!!
Everyone knows Dennis was the only surfer, giving Brian the proper terms and lingo, but he was also the one into racing cars, and gave Brian the education on terms and lingo for street racing too.
That’s the first time I could actually here Dennis drumming and he sounds pretty damn good!!
Such beautiful harmony!!!
Rumor has it that Jim Henson modeled Animal after Dennis.
❤
We start by having studio musicians record everything because they’re about 12,000 times better than we are.
I like the way The Beach Boys didn’t consider it beneath them to do covers all through their musically mature years: Sloop John B, I Can Hear Music, Barbara Ann, California Dreaming. All GREAT versions. I wish they had done “Just My Style.”
This made me smile soooo big!! hahaha (Btw Brian looks absolutely hysterical)
Now we know why Hal Blaine played on all the records. Dennis a lovely guy though
No, not all. Not even close. Even Hal would disagree with you.
Them dudes got ALL the grandmas
& mike Love did what exactly ?....besides running his mouth & falsely taking writing credit for songs written by Brian..
God I love Brian's writing, here we have a fairly straight-forward rock and roll song, when suddenly there's a II major followed by IV minor before the V resolves to I. If Taylor Swift put chords like this together my head would explode.
Stop playing our music. You weren't even born. Originate your own.
All these years and I never realised pre- Freddie Mercury, I.e. Larry Lurex recorded a Beach Boys song
The best of times😊
I remember this from a concert album
Creators of the soundtrack of my youth
Perfect
I'm only 28 years old but I feel like I belong in the time period of The Beach Boys, The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, etc. I feel so out of place in a society where people have become so disconnected from the outside world and so obsessed with themselves
My Stepdad grew up with the Wilson's, his sister is the inspiration for this song .
Beach Boys. Buenos temas, gracias 😊❤
Article " Rolling Sone" Brian's wife to the kids " your dad is kinda a musical genius" ( paraphrase ) but he has problems"!! Pretty sure i read it!!
Except they never recorded any of their instruments with exception to Brian
Dennis played opposite-handed! I wonder if he never was taught the right way lol
Totally effing awesome. The first time I ever heard this song in 1969 when I bought the 20/20 album, it blew me away. I played it over and over. It still does today.
I got to see one of the last concerts they ever did which was a free show at Callaway gardens in Georgia
Dude my entire life ive thought they were just making scat type noises i had no idea they were saying "Barbara ann" ... Wow! Lol in my head its bababa babababaran
The generation that went to fight and to die in ‘Nam🥹
Fun, fun, fun. A young man‘a gone are two of my favorites but I love all of songs
Great band fabulous music
Was this the July 4 Concert in DC? A great time. I was there.
They were in sync for sure
Poor AL lol
❤so very cool!😮 Thanks for the info.ℹ️
In reality (in the studio), that would be Hal Blaine, Tommy Tedecso, Glenn Campbell, and Carol Kaye with Brian Wilson in the booth composing the whole thing in his head with nothing but zero sleep and 4 tabs of acid.
Playmobil!!!!
Oh and cocaine... lots of cocaine
This was more like the top ten songs from Pet Sounds, than from the Beach Boys career!
Hal Blaine on drums, Glen Campbell on guitar and Carol Kaye on bass.
So.
One of the best!
